Biography

Sam Thomas is an experienced intellectual property and civil litigation attorney at Thomas P. Howard LLC. His practice includes intellectual property disputes and wide range of civil and commercial litigation matters including breach of contract, interference with contract, consumer protection claims, fraud, and construction disputes.

Sam brings a charismatic and practical approach to his work as an attorney. He has practiced in the areas of catastrophic personal injury, municipal defense, medical malpractice, business administration, and labor and employment law. Sam has a passion for business law, intellectual property, and litigations. He brings exceptional skills in getting positive outcomes for his clients and the Thomas P. Howard team.

Sam’s clients benefit from his strong work ethic and compassion for his clients. Over the years, Sam has gained vital experience working for judges and attorneys where he was exposed to broad areas of the law both at the state and federal level. Sam has gained valuable experience in his civil litigation practice taking multiples cases to trial for both plaintiffs and defendants. His current litigation practice includes intellectual property disputes, contract disputes, general business litigation, and construction disputes.

Sam is a Colorado native and loves to spend time with his friends and family in the beautiful Colorado outdoors, golfing, and rooting on the Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets and his Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Experience

During his time in law school at Gonzaga, Sam was very active on campus. He served as the Comments Editor on 2019 Law Review and won a school wide writing competition with his submission, Pena-Rodriguez v. Colorado: A Constitutional Battle of Public Policy, 53 GONZ. L. REV. 3 (2018). Sam also served as Secretary of the Student Bar Association and was a two-time member of the Saul Lefkowitz Intellectual Property Moot Court team where he made oral arguments at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

While in Law School, Sam clerked for the Honorable Judge, Raymond Clary and worked as a legal intern for the law firm of Etter, McMahon, Lamberson, Van Wert & Oreskovich in addition to the Spokane County Public Defenders. While in law school, Sam saw the value of receiving not only a great education in the classroom, but a broad range of experience working as a legal intern and clerk.

Before attending Law School, Sam earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Communication, History, and Business Administration from William Jewell College in Kansas City, Missouri. Sam played Baseball for the William Jewell College Cardinals where he was a four-time letterman, captain, and 2014 Teammate of the Year.
